Becker ProActive Auto Start

The innovative Becker ProActive Auto Start function is made possible by the unique architecture of the Becker revo. When the basic device is mounted to the windscreen and has a power connection, it can start itself automatically and prepare all relevant traffic data for you proactively. This function offers different options:

Automatic: When you use your navigation device for regular trips to the same destination (for example on your way to work), the satnav learns and saves your user habits autonomously. On future trips, the Becker ProActive Auto Start function switches the device on all by itself and receives the GPS signal as well as current TMC notifications. When you sit down in your car and connect the display to the basic device, your current position is already determined and current traffic information can already be directly integrated into the route calculation.

Manual: When your destinations are rather differing, you can set the advantages of the Becker ProActive Auto Start function manually. Up to two wake-up times can be defined per week day.

SmartGuess Route: When the “SmartGuess Route” is activated, the device cannot only receive the GPS signal and TMC notifications, but also calculates the expected route to the destination, which you already approached at the same time in the past.  Thereby you will get the optimum route guidance under consideration of the current traffic situation immediately when you start your trip.

BLUETOOTH®**

BLUETOOTH®** is a wireless radio network via which a wide range of different devices, e.g. mobile phones, navigation devices, computers etc., can communicate with one another over a short distance (approx. 100m) wirelessly and synchronise data. Navigation devices can be connected with the aid of this technology, e.g. to a mobile phone, which means the devices are capable of sending and receiving data among one another. In addition, this also allows the navigation device to be used as a hands-free device in the car. The requirement for data synchronisation to work is that both devices (transmitter and receiver) must be equipped with BLUETOOTH®**. The user does not incur any costs from using the BLUETOOTH®**-technology.

** The BLUETOOTH® word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by the Bluetooth SIG.Inc. and any use of such marks by United Navigation GmbH is under license. Other trademarks and trade names are those of their respective owners.

Capacitive glass panel

The capacitive glass panel enables a much better handling of the navigation device. For example, you can enlarge or reduce the size of the map view by moving two fingers to each other or apart. By moving two fingers on the display to the left, you will get back to the previous section in the menu, just like using the Becker EasyBack button. Lists can be scrolled with a simple finger movement.

Driver Profiles Pro

Save your personal settings with the new "Driver Profiles Pro" function. Up to four different profiles can be created and changed as you wish. Preferred route options, vehicle data or zoom levels on the map are thus retained even if you hand the device over to family, friends or colleagues. Additionally, you can link a specific, BLUETOOTH®**-enabled mobile phone to each of the four driver profiles. This mobile phone then activates the associated  driver profile accordingly.

FM-Transmitter

An FM transmitter is a tiny VHF transmitter (VHF = very high frequency), e.g. in a navigation device, which transmits navigation announcements and MP3 music wirelessly over a short distance (approx. 5-10m) by radio to the car radio. This means that both music and navigation announcements can be heard via the speakers of the car radio. To do this, you must search for a free radio frequency on your car radio and then set this frequency both on the car radio itself and on the device with a built-in FM transmitter (e.g. in the navigation device). The desired audio signals will then be transmitted via the frequency which is set. This allows the car radio to also be used as a hands-free device and a mobile phone call to be broadcast via the speakers in the car. For this purpose, the microphone of the mobile phone then continues to be used for the conversation. However, if travelling over longer distances, the situation may arise where the set frequency is interfered with or disrupted by other transmitters. It is then necessary to set a new frequency on both devices. Thanks to this technology, expensive retrofitting of the car radio system or laborious laying of cables between the devices is no longer absolutely necessary.

GPS

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a global positioning system which is based on the use of satellites and is available to the general public free of charge as a navigation aid. In order to be able to receive a GPS signal, it is necessary to own a GPS receiver which receives the signals from the navigation satellites and to have an "unrestricted" view of the satellites. The reception of the GPS signals makes it possible to determine both the position on the surface of the earth and the height above sea level to within a few metres, and to work out the speed at which the receiver is travelling. On the basis of this information, a navigation device is able to work out a suggested route. The GPS receiver gets a fix on the signals from up to 12 GPS satellites at the same time and compares the time information which is received with the receiver's own built-in clock. As the satellites are all a different distance away from the GPS receiver, the respective signal transit times differ. The receiver then calculates the current location on the basis of these variations. It is necessary to receive signals from at least 4 satellites to allow three-dimensional positioning (length, width, height).

Learning Navigation

he navigation system learns as you go along. As well as taking account of historic traffic data, new data can now also be incorporated into the routing. Your navigation system collects the kilometres you travel which we combine in an anonymous format with the information from thousands of other users*. If you regularly update the navigation data on your navigation device, this will provide you with faster routes with less traffic on them, even depending on the day of the week and time of day.

* The data is updated via the Becker Content Manager. An automatic data transfer only takes place here with your explicit consent.

Navteq Traffic Europe

Navteq Traffic Premium TMC for Europe (incl. TMC Pro) provides detailed and up-to-the-minute traffic reports to aid your navigation. The latest traffic flows are automatically recorded by sensors and transmitted, checked by the central data system and then forwarded to your navigation system. The occurrence and dispersion of traffic jams can be reported more accurately by these automatic recording systems.

Navteq Traffic Premium TMC is available in Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.

If no Premium traffic service is available, the traffic information in the set service area will continue to be received via the built-in TMC traffic report receiver, with this also then being taken into account in route calculations.

POI

Points of Interest, these are special destinations or places with a cultural, culinary or tourist link, e.g. restaurants, hotels, filling stations, car parks, theatres, museums and much more that might be of interest to the driver on the route from A to B. The associated destination addresses are already stored in the map software of a navigation system such as a Falk Navigator and can be selected as the destination directly instead of entering an address manually.

_______________________________________

Premium TMC

Premium TMC allows the up-to-the-minute and optimised display of traffic and traffic jam reports. The latest traffic flows are automatically recorded by sensors and transmitted, checked by the central data system and then forward to the navigation system. The occurrence and dispersion of traffic jams can be reported more accurately by these automatic recording systems.

Premium TMC is available in Germany, France, England, Italy and Scandinavia.

If no Premium traffic service is available, the traffic information in the set service area will continue to be received via the built-in TMC traffic report receiver, with this also then being taken into account in route calculations.

SD Card

The Secure Digital Card is a digital storage medium for storing music or audio books as well as additional maps, POIs, cities and tours.

_______________________________________

Smart Car Charger

The Smart Car Charger enables a power supply for the navigation device via cigarette lighter (12/24V). When the Smart Car Charger is switched on (Switch is in position “ON”), the cable recognizes whether the engine of your vehicle is running or not and switches the power supply to your satnav on or off accordingly. This function is helpful for cars, which do not have a switched cigarette lighter already.

TMC

TMC (Traffic Message Channel) is a digital radio service which also broadcasts traffic information in addition to the radio signal. Corresponding devices (TMC receivers) such as navigation devices decipher this information such as traffic hold-ups/delays, traffic jams etc. and on the basis of this data plan to avoid traffic jams if necessary. The reception of TMC messages is generally free of charge and, apart from chains of public radio stations, it is also transmitted by some private broadcasters (e.g. Antenne Bayern). The availability of TMC is regionally dependent on different radio stations and is available – with very different quality levels – in the following countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Czech Republic.

_______________________________________

TMCpro

In addition to TMC, there is the chargeable premium service TMCpro for Germany. In contrast to TMC, TMCpro does not obtain its information from human traffic reports (e.g. information from the ADAC, traffic helicopters, police reports, etc.) but from many thousands of sensors which are fitted for example on motorway bridges or are built into the carriageway. These reports are automatically registered / updated within a very short space of time (currently no more than 4 minutes). This allows forecasts and early warnings (e.g. information about roadworks, weather conditions on the roads, etc.) to be calculated and reported more accurately, swiftly and reliably than the simple TMC data. TMCpro is nominally subject to a charge, but this charge is already included in the purchase price with many devices.

Truck & Camper Alerts

With extensive hints about dangerous situations and restrictions, you will get an optimum overview of your route at all times. This means that possible dangerous situations can be identified at an early stage and promptly avoided, even without active routing. In addition to restrictions such as height, width, length, weight and lorry access bans, you will now also be notified immediately about low-emission zones along the route. This will ensure that you can navigate without any worries and without any tickets.

_______________________________________

Truck & Camper Navigation Pro

Your route is calculated by taking account of relevant vehicle data such as height, width, weight, trailer details and load with hazardous goods categorisation. In addition to the individual vehicle profile, road attributes such as bridge heights, tunnels, closures and warning signs specific to trucks & campers are included in the calculation. Road segments which are not suitable are thus automatically avoided and at the same time hazards are minimised.

A special plus for all campers with Becker revo.2: Lorry access bans and special lorry restrictions are now no longer taken into account in your routing. You are thus certain to get to your destination swiftly and yet safely.

TTS / Text2Speech

Text-to-Speech (TTS) is the name given to a software component which makes it possible to generate synthetic speech from a text which is designed to be understandable and sound natural. TTS systems analyse a text and then compile from it the smallest meaningful units of speech to form spoken words or sentences. The synthetic speech is then provided with a rhythm and intonation. The speech which is output by the device details, in the case of a navigation device for example, street names, indications of which direction to take and orientation points along the route being travelled in order to make it easier for the driver to find their bearings on the roads. This system enables the user to find their way around the roads easily and safely without constantly having to read instructions off the screen.

Natural TTS: In addition to announcing place names, street names, exits and relevant traffic delays, the newest generation of the TTS voice output now also includes the announcement of prominent landscape objects, for example "In front of the next bridge, turn left". The volume and length of voice announcements are automatically adjusted according to your current speed and driving environment.
